CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Cross-Country Team released its 2018 season schedule, competing in six meets before the NCAA Regionals and Championships in November.
"We are excited for the fall cross-country season," said Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "We have planned for a mix of meets that will lead us toward our championship races in November. Our September races will be 4ks and 5ks, and then we will tackle the 6k distances in October. It's going to be a terrific season."
This year, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) eliminated the dual-meet format, settling the conference title at the SCIAC Championship.
The Sagehens will kick off the season by hosting a tri-meet against Occidental College and University of La Verne at Strehle Track on Saturday, September 1 at 8:30 a.m. The Hens will compete again in two weeks at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, September 15 at 7:30 a.m. where they will race against several top Division I and II programs.
On Saturday, September 29, the Sagehens will travel to Palo Alto for the Stanford Invitational where they will compete against top cross-country programs across the nation at 9:50 a.m.
Pomona-Pitzer will host its second event of the season at Strehle Track in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, October 6 at 8:30 a.m.
The team received the honor of competing against the top Division III programs in the nation at the Pre-Nationals in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Saturday, October 13 at 11:20 a.m.
The Hens will take a two-week break before competing again for the SCIAC title in the SCIAC Championship on Saturday, October 27 at 9:45 a.m. They will also race at the NCAA West Region on Saturday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. If the team qualifies, they will compete at the NCAA Championship on Saturday, November 17 at 12:00 p.m.
