Women's T&F: Sagehens Open 2020 With Occidental Dual Meet

LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Sagehens opened up the 2020 spring schedule with a 63-54 dual meet loss to SCIAC opponent Occidental.

The Sagehens finished first and second in the 3000 meter run as Helen Guo and Lila Cardillo finished side by side. Guo took first with a time of 11:06.82 and Cardillo finished just behind her at 11:06.83. 

Pomona-Pitzer took first in the 4x800 meter relay with the A team of Miranda Camargo, Rosie Linkus, Kelsey Van Allen, and Shanthi Ashley taking first with a time of 9:55.19.

The Sagehens also took first in the 4x1600 meter relay as the Pomona-Pitzer team of Guo, Cardillo, Abigail Loiselle and Lilly Bar took first clocking in at 22:02.86, the #2 time in program history.

Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong placed first in the High Jump at 5-01.00 and also took first in the Triple Jump at 36-05.75.

The Sagehens ended the day with a first and second place finish in the Discus with Katherine Pelz in first at 116-01 and Sara Anderson in second at 104-01. 

Pomona-Pitzer also won the mixed 1600 Sprint Medley where the Sagehens raced with Lia Francis, Alexander Bartone, Quin Fraley and Dylan Madden taking first at 3:58.82.

"We had a good day despite the losing score," said Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "We were using this meet to remind us how to go to meets and prepare to do what you want to do in competition. This sets us up nicely for our future meets as we head into the heart of the season in a few weeks."
