Claremont, Calif. - The 4x800 relay team of Annie Lydens, Isabelle Ambler, Stassja Sichko and Claire Brickson set a new school record with a 9:43.53 at the annual Rossi Relays on Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The previous record of 9:50.98 was set in 2010, as the quartet was able to chop seven seconds off the old mark.
Lydens, Brickson, Ambler and Leslie Rice also clocked a 12:55.61 in the distance medley relay, which is the No. 4 time in Pomona-Pitzer history.
Other highlights included Erin Delaria in the pole vault, who set a new person record of 10'2", which moved her into third place in program annals. Ailene Nguyen improved her personal best in the long jump to 17' 3 1/4", but remains in the fourth spot in the Sagehen record books.
On the men's side, junior Garret Bell went over 40 feet in the shot put for the second week in a row, while freshman John Fowler had the top individual finish when he came in fifth in the 3000 meters.
Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action next weekend in a five-way SCIAC meet at home at Strehle Track, although Chapman will be the official host of the event. The Sagehens will record dual results against La Verne and Whittier, while Chapman and Occidental will also participate.
