
NICHOLASVILLE, KY. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team fell to Chicago 8-1 in the Semifinals of the ITA Indoor Championships on Saturday afternoon.
Chicago had the advantage after doubles where they took two of the three matches against the Sagehens. The Sagehens began with a tough match in the #1 doubles position with Marissa Markey and Angie Zhou playing against Guo/Mikos. The Maroons came out strong and took an early lead, eventually winning the match 8-4.
In the #2 doubles position, the Sagehens fought back with Lauren Rha and Nina Ye winning the match against Ng/Wang with a score of 8-1. Unfortunately, in the #3 doubles position, Janie Marcus and Samantha Moore-Thomson struggled against Geller/Khou, eventually losing the match 8-5.
Moving on to the singles matches, the Sagehens struggled to come back from their earlier losses in doubles. In the #1 singles position, Zhou fought hard but lost to Mikos in a close match with a score of 5-7, 6-4, and 10-7 in the tiebreaker. In the #2 singles position, Ye also struggled against Guo and lost with a score of 2-6, 3-6.
In the #3 singles position, Rha lost the match with a score of 2-6, 0-6 and In the #4 singles position, Poor fell to Pedersen with a score of 1-6, 4-6. Similarly, in the #5 singles position, Marcus was unable to gain any traction against Yuan, losing the match with a score of 2-6, 2-6 and In the final singles position, Markey fell to Ng by the score of 4-6, 1-6.
