Sagehens Take Close 6-3 Loss To Wesleyan

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis program ran into some misfortune on Thursday afternoon, falling the No. 9 Wesleyan (Conn.) 6-3. After the Cardinals took all three doubles matches, the Sagehens tried to battle back in the singles. However, Wesleyan took three more wins in singles to clinch the match.

Season Impact: The Sagehens currently hold a 5-2 record overall this season.

Pomona-PItzer's Maryann Zhao and Emily Chen dropped their no. 1 doubles match 8-2 to Eudice Chong and Victoria Yu. In no. 2 doubles, Caroline Casper and Arianna Chen lost to Polina Kiseleva and Alissa Nakamoto 8-4. Shivani Doraiswami and Jacinta Chen dropped the no. 3 doubles match to Nicole McCann and Helen Klass-Warch 8-3.

Summer Garrison made quick work in her no. 3 singles victory, winning her match 6-2 and 6-1. Zhao battled through a three set battle, winning her no. 2 singles match (3-6, 6-4, 14-12). Arianna Chen also won her no. 6 singles match 6-4 and 6-2. Casper fell in no. 1 singles to Chong and Doraiswami dropped a three-set thriller to Kiseleva (6-0, 2-6, 6-1). Chen lost her first set 7-5 and later forfeited via retirement.
