CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team defeated non-conference opponent No. 12 Tufts 7-2 on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens keep their solid play going as they have now won three out of their last four matches against top-ranked opponents and move to 9-3 overall.
The Sagehens came out and dominated doubles competition to start out with a 3-0 advantage over the Jumbos.
After sweeping the doubles matches, the Sagehens started out hot in the singles matches as Casper earned a win at the No. 1 spot by the score of 6-1, 6-1.
Tufts got their first point of the day as they won at the No. 3 singles line as Mae Coyiuto fell to her opponent by the scores of 6-1, 6-2.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to clinch the match at 5-1 against Tufts as Arianna Chen took care of her match in the No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-3.
The Sagehens went on to win two more singles matches after the clinch as Kim also went on to win her match in the No. 5 singles spot, 6-2, 6-4 and Zhao defeated her opponent in a hard fought match at No. 2 as she won the first set 6-2 and lost the second set 4-6 but came back to win the third set 12-10 to end a well-played match by the Sagehens.
