
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's swim and dive team competed in the 200 fly, 100 breast, and 800 free relay in the morning session with Abby Smith and Alex Gill both advancing to the evening championship finals. Alex Gill highlighted the Sagehens performance with a National Runner-Up performance in the 100 breaststroke, swimming from the outside lane.
Morning Prelims
Abby Smith earned herself a spot in the Championship Final in the 200 fly, swimming out of the third heat out of five total. Smith won her heat with a time of 2:02.70, dropping .71 seconds from her seed time to earn her spot in the Championship Final, locking up First-Team All-American honors. In the 100 breaststroke, Alex Gill earned a spot in the Championship Final after swimming a 1:02.28, clinching First Team All-American honors, entering the final as the seven seed. The 800 free relay team of Sabrina Wang, Naomi Locala, Abby Smith, and Emmie Appl combined for a time of 7:35.94, taking sixth in their heat while defeating rival CMS who took seventh in the heat with a time of 7:36.61.
Evening Finals
Abby Smith started the night with a sixth place finish in the 200 fly, swimming a 2:02.37, .33 seconds faster than her seed time, to earn First Team All-American honors. Alex Gill had a stellar night in the 100 breast, dropping 1.07 seconds out of lane one to finish as the National Runner-Up in the event.
