Women's Swim & Dive: Sagehens End Regular Season With CMS Invite

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Sagehens competed in the CMS Invite with individuals swimming in their last meet before the SCIAC Championships on Saturday morning at Axelrood Pool.

The Sagehens won their first individual events as Denise Dao took first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.91.  Kate Eisenbraun finished in second just behind Dao at 24.95.

Abby Smith then placed first in the 400 Yard IM as she clocked in with a time of 4:42.58 while Hannah Zurmuhl took first in the 100 Yard Backstroke as she ended with a top time of 59.16.

Annabelle Farnham finished in first place in the 200 Yard Backstroke as she clocked in at 2:18.84 and Kate Denend won the 100 Yard Freestyle as she clocked in at 54.42.

During the diving portion of the meet, Ruby Epstein took first in the One Meter Dive with a score of 289.40 and Emma van der Veen took second with a score of 267.95. In the Three Meter Dive, van der Veen finished in first with a score of 273.65, Epstein in second at 243.90 and Eleanor Mackey in third at 235.55.

The Sagehens also took first in the Mixed 200 Yard Medley Relay as Allison Liu, Lukas Ming Menkhoff, Greg Havton and Haley Kirtland finished in first with a time of 1:38.65.  Pomona-Pitzer also won the Mixed 200 Yard Freestyle as well as Will Abele, Hannah Zurmuhl, Katherine Lauerman and Nick Borowsky took first with a time of 1:31.60.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next compete in the SCIAC Championships on Saturday, February 15th at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
