REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swim & Dive Team impressed at the Bulldog Pentathlon hosted by University of Redlands on Saturday afternoon, seeing seven swimmers from the program finish in the top-10. The scoring of a Pentathalon is measured by the combined times of the 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Freestyle, and 100 Individual Medley. First year Abby Smith took the top spot with a total time of 5:12.49 as she finished first in the 100 Butterfly at 59.64 and fourth in the 100 IM at 1:02.57.
Junior Allison Liu completed the pentathlon in second place, clocking at 5:13.50. She took first in the 100 Backstroke at 59.15 and third in the 100 Butterfly at 1:00.58. First year Haley Kirtland was the next-highest finisher for the Sagehens at fifth, timing at 5:15.51. The first year impressed in her debut, taking first in the 100 Freestyle at 54.60 and third in the 100 IM at 1:02.32.
Alex Gill placed seventh at 5:21.41, including a first-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:08.95 and sixth in the 100 IM at 1:03.93. First year Jen Lenertz ended in eighth at 5:21.95, finishing right behind Kirtland in the 100 Freestyle at 55.52 and tying Gill for sixth in the 100 IM at 1:03.93. Denise Dao was ninth overall with a time of 5:24.08, with her best finish coming in the 100 Backstroke with an eighth-place finish at 1:03.50. Summer Will finished 10th at 5:25.04. She took sixth in the 100 Butterfly at 1:01.81 and 10th in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:12.69 as well as 10th in the 100 IM at 1:04.72.
