Lewis Nets 7 Goals In Sagehens 21-6 Win Against Chapman

ORANGE, CA. – The No. 22 Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team continued their undefeated season with a 21-6 win over SCIAC opponent Chapman on Wednesday night at Wilson Field.

Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens move to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Fiona Lewis who scored a career-high seven goals in the win. Sydney Landauer and River Buechner also netted hat-tricks with four and three, respectively.  Eloise Cherian, Gwynn Sullivan and Shoshi Henderson had two while Caroline Worthington had one.

The first quarter started off with a bang as Pomona-Pitzer came out firing. Lewis opened up the scoring with a hat-trick straight out of the gate to make it 3-0 within the first three minutes of the first quarter. The Sagehens continued to dominate, with Landauer and Cherian both adding goals of their own. Chapman finally got on the board with a goal from Jessica Ricketts, but Pomona-Pitzer answered back with goals from Lewis, Buechner, and Landauer to end the quarter up 9-1. 

In the second quarter, the Sagehens continued to build on their lead. Henderson got things started with a goal assisted by Maggie Sweeney. Lewis added her fourth goal of the game, and Sullivan then scored on a free position shot to make it 12-1. Chapman's Ricketts scored her second goal of the game, but Pomona-Pitzer answered back with a goal from Buechner, assisted by Henderson. Mei-Lani Ferreira scored for the Panthers just before the end of the quarter, making the score 13-3 in favor of the Sagehens at halftime.

The third quarter saw both teams trade goals. Worthington started things off with a goal on a free position shot for Pomona-Pitzer. Ferreira scored again for Chapman on a free position shot, but Lewis answered back with her fifth goal of the game. She added another goal later in the quarter, assisted by Cherian and Buechner also added a goal making the score 17-5 in favor of the Sagehens.

In the final quarter, Pomona-Pitzer continued to dominate, with Henderson and Landauer both adding goals and Sullivan scored her second goal of the game on a free position shot to cap off another 20+ goal night for the Sagehens in the win.
