Mason Claims Third-Straight Individual Title As Sagehens Take CLU Regals Invitational

MOORPARK, CA. – Jessica Mason led the Sagehens to a first-place finish at the CLU Regals Invitational with her third-straight individual title on Monday and Tuesday morning at Moorpark Country Club.

The Sagehens took first place by a big margin with a combined team score of 583. The next closest score was Menlo who finished with 621 and Westmont in third at 624.

Leading the Sagehens was Jessica Mason who earned her third consecutive individual title with a 143 for her two rounds.  Mason started out the tournament with a bogey and then proceeded to finish the round with an eagle at 16 and a birdie at 3 to shoot one over on the day at 73. Mason then came back in day two with a sole bogey and birdies at 1, 3 and 16 for a 70 (-2) to claim the title.

Just behind Mason was Emily Chang who finished in second overall with a score of 145. Chang sat at -1 through her first nine after an eagle on a par 4 at hole 17. Chang ended day one with the eagle at 17 and birdie at 3 for a 72 (E) on day one.  Chang came back and once again sat at -1 at her turn with birdies at 13 and 16 but bogeyed two holes on her final nine holes to fall just short of Mason for second place.

Katelyn Vo finished tied for third place overall with a score of 147. Vo ended day one with birdies at 4, 12, 16 and 18 for a 73 (+1) and then came back with a stretch of three birdies in five holes on day two to finish one stroke higher for a 74 (+2) to take third.

Federica Domecq Lacroze was the fourth Sagehen to finish inside the top-5 after she tied for fifth overall with a 148. Lacroze had a terrific start to her tournament after she holed four birdies on day one for a 71 (-1). Lacroze came back on day two and had three-straight birdies in a row on holes 16, 17, and 18 but fell into trouble early on in her round and finished at 77(+5).

Ending the tournament for the Sagehens was Ottavia Lombardo who took 13th with a 157. Lombardo started out with a nice round one after she sank two birdies and 12 pars for a 74 (+2) but had a little trouble on day two of her tournament to finish with a round two score of 83 (+11) to end.
