NEW ORLEANS, LA.- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association handed seven members of the Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country Program the All-Academic Award for their hard work on the course and in the classroom. Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and a top-25 percent finisher in their respective regional championship meets get awarded this honor. Adin Becker, Julian Degroot-Lutzner, Dante Paszkeicz, Andy Reischling, Hugo Ward, Ethan Widlansky, and Owen Woo were among the recipients.
"I thought it was awesome to have all 7 members of our national championship team earn All-Academic honors as individuals," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. "These guys all work extremely hard in the classroom and at practice."
In addition, the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Cross Country program was named to the All-Academic Team, an honor given to teams that competed in their respective regional champion meets and posted a team-average GPA of 3.10.
"There are very few awards that take into account all members of a team," said Coach Carpenter. "At competitions, it is just the top seven, so when all 27 members get to contribute to a team goal, I think that is pretty cool. We always talk about 'excellence' at Pomona-Pitzer and I think that our group of cross country runners perfectly exemplify this both in the classroom and in competition."
