San Diego, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team went to overtime with neighboring rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps before falling 11-9 in the consolation semifinals of the WWPA Championships on Saturday evening at UC San Diego.

The loss drops the Sagehens to 14-20 overall, and they will battle SCIAC rival Redlands in the seventh place match at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. CMS will face Air Force in the fifth place match at 11 a.m.

The game was a rematch of the SCIAC Championship game last weekend, which Pomona-Pitzer won 7-4 behind the standout goalkeeping of senior Kyle Pokorny (Coronado, Calif.), who had 14 saves. The contest was close throughout, as the teams were tied 5-5 at halftime, 7-7 after three quarters and 9-9 at the end of regulation, but the Stags scored once in each overtime session to come away with the 11-9 win.

Senior Jaron Moler (Carmichael, Calif. - pictured) was the only Sagehen with more than one goal, as he scored twice on the day, while seven other players had one goal apiece. Vincent Schiavoni had three goals for the Stags, while Brian Baier and Michael Lee each added two.
