Booth-Genthe Finishes as Runner Up, Sagehens Show Well at Oxy Distance Carnival

LOS ANGELES, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's track and field team competed well in the Oxy Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Sagehens also had Bennett Booth-Genthe competing on the road at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Booth-Genthe finished as the National Runner Up in the Mile with a time of 4:03.64, setting a new program record while also becoming one of the four runners at the Championships to break the previous Championship Record time of 4:05.60. 

The Sagehens 4x100m relay team of Kirby Lam, Ayodele Cole, Jake Hallesy, and Chris Taylor combined for a time of 42.61 seconds to take third in the event. In the 400m, the trio of Sam Butler, Oscar Roering, and Hallesy took 12th, 14th, and 15th with times of 51.11s, 51.21s, and 51.40s, respectively. Chris Taylor represented Pomona-Pitzer in the 100m, running a time of 11.15 seconds to take sixth overall. The 4x400m relay team of Cole, Roering, Butler, and Hallesy combined for a time of 3:2750 to take fourth in the event. Josh Gehring took 35th in the 1500m with a time of 4:08.26. The Sagehens, unsurprisingly, put four runners in the top-10 in the 5,000m as Colin Kirkpatrick (14:19.48), Jack Rosencrans (14:19.50), Ian Horsburgh (14:25.50), and Nathaniel Getachew (14:25.79) took fourth, fifth, eighth, and ninth in the event. With their times, Kirkpatrick and Rosencrans both pass Will Leer and Oliver Chang on the all-time top-10 list. Lucas Florsheim and Derek Fearon took 18th and 19th with times of 14:39.54 and 14:39.83.  

William Marquart took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.58m while Daniel Harrell took 15th with a throw of 10.99m. Harrell took eighth in the discus after throwing 35.64m. In the hammer, Marquart took 17th overall with a throw of 31.37m. Eze Iheanacho took sixth in the javelin with a 40.97m throw with Mohammed Ahmed taking seventh after throwing 40.75m. Elshiekh Ahmed took 13th with a throw of 36.20m in the event. Gavin Horne took 16th in long jump after recording a mark of 5.34m. Euan Kang took third in the triple jump with a 12.36m mark while Aiden Karpf took fifth with a jump of 12.30m. Erubey Lopez took seventh in the high jump after clearing 1.65m.
