Men's T&F: Sagehens Open Season With Occidental Dual Meet

LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Sagehens opened up the 2020 spring schedule with a 77-47 loss to SCIAC opponent Occidental.

The Sagehens opened up with a win in the 100 Meter Dash as Nick Marsano and Daniel Tamkin finished first and second. Marsano took first with a time of 11.35 followed by Tamkin at 11.42. 

Pomona-Pitzer then went on to win the High Jump with Evan Johnson at 6-02.00.  The Sagehens also took first and second in the Pole Vault with Nick Kapule in first at 13-11.25 and Johnson in second at 13-05.25. 

Lucas White Moon earned wins in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump.  White Moon finished the Long Jump with a distance of 20-08.50 and then jumped 43-03.00 in the Triple Jump.

The Sagehens ended the field events as Warren Hosseinion took first in the Shot Put with a throw of 40-00.75.

Pomona-Pitzer also ended the day with a mixed 1600 Spring Medley where the Sagehens took first with Lia Francis, Alexander Bartone, Quin Fraley and Dylan Madden taking first at 3:58.82.

"I thought we had a really strong day as a group," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. "The goal of this meet is to simply get back into the swing of competing again and I thought we competed well across the events. We had a large number of athletes sit out today as well who we will get to see in the coming weeks. I am excited to see what we can to do this season and today kicked it all off in a very positive way."
