Sagehens Lose To Trinity 5-4 In Stag-Hen Tournament

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to No. 11 Trinity 5-4 on Sunday morning at the Pauley Tennis Courts.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 7-5 overall.

In the doubles competition, Trinity won all three matches against the Sagehens.  The duo of Hao Nguyen and Eric Liao beat Pomona-Pitzer's #8-ranked team of Matthew Feng and Eshnaan Lumba in the first doubles match. Robert Chang and Dalton Locke followed that up with a victory over Hayden Snyder and Mukund Madabhushi in the second doubles match. Trinity University's Cal Hunter and Conor Kaczmarczyk wrapped up the doubles competition with a win over Owen Kelley and Ethan Lee.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges got off to a good start, with Mukund Madabhushi beating Trinity's Hao Nguyen (#30) 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. The second singles match was won by Pomona-Pitzer's Kush Patel, who defeated Connor Whittington in two sets, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Trinity University bounced back in the third singles match, with Eric Liao taking down Ethan Lee 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. Rafa Candelas Ruiz followed that up with a straight-set victory over Eshnaan Lumba 6-3, 6-3. Pomona-Pitzer fought back in the fifth singles match, with Matthew Feng defeating Trinity's Aashish Dhanani in another tight game that ended 7-6, (7-4), 7-5. Trinity also added a win at the sixth singles spots Robert Chang of Trinity defeated Neil Chullani 6-2, 6-2.
