Sagehens Open Stag-Hen With 6-1 Win Over Swarthmore

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team started off the 2023 Stag-Hen Tournament with a 6-1 win over Swarthmore on Thursday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.

In the first doubles match, Rushil Patel and Michael Melnikov fell to Pomona-Pitzer's Eshaan Lumba and Matthew Feng 6-2, putting the Sagehens up one in doubles play. The Sagehens quicly took the single point for doubles after Graham Hadesman and Utham Koduri fell to Hayden Snyder and Mukund Madabhushi of Pomona-Pitzer 7-5 to give the Sagehens the doubles win. Pomona-Pitzer's Owen Kelley and Ethan Lee went on to win singles against Max Pogorelov and Andres Fente 7-6 to win all three doubles matches.

In the first singles match, Hayden Snyder fell to Swarthmore's Michael Melnikov 6-1, 6-2  and Mukund Madabhushi defeated Swarthmore's Max Lindstrom in a three-set match at No. 2 singles 6-0,  6-7, 7-6.

In the third singles match, Pomona-Pitzer's Ethan Lee had a convincing win over Rushil Patel of Swarthmore, winning the match 6-1, 6-2 and Eshaan Lumba won his match at #4 signles over Kevin Jiang 6-3, 4-6, 7-6. The Sagehens earned wins at #5 and #6 singles as Matthew Feng won his match 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 and Neil Chulani won 6-1, 6-2.  

The Sagehens will continue the Stag-Hen Tournament this weekend.
