
CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's tennis team split a SCIAC doubleheader with a 9-0 win over Whittier but suffered a 5-4 loss at Chapman on Saturday.

The Sagehens made quick work of the Poets in their first match of the day with a 9-0 win. The doubles play started off with the Sagehens taking all three matches over their opponents. In the #1 doubles position, Mukund Madabhushi and Hayden Snyder defeated Ahire/Amer with a score of 8-3. Similarly, in the #2 doubles position, Matthew Feng and Ethan Lee dominated Carroll/De Bona, winning the match 8-1 and in the #3 doubles position, Matthew Chulani and Luke Feng also won their match against van den Hoek/Braan with a score of 8-5.
Moving on to the singles matches, the Sagehens continued their strong performance, winning all six matches. In the #1 singles position, Madabhushi defeated Ahire with a score of 6-1, 6-3. In the #2 singles position, Patel defeated Carroll with a score of 6-3, 6-2. In the #3 singles position, Lee defeated De Bona with a score of 6-3, 6-1. In the #4 singles position, Chulani defeated Amer with a score of 6-2, 6-0. In the #5 singles position, Krishnan defeated Nagdev with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Finally, in the #6 singles position Rohun Krishnan won 6-1, 6-3.
Pomona-Pitzer 4, Chapman 5
The second match of the day did not go as planned for the Sagehen after they fell to Chapman 5-4 on the road.
The doubles matches were closely contested, with the Panthers edging out the Sagehens 2-1. In the first doubles match, the Sagehens' team of Mukund Madabhushi and Hayden Snyder faced off against the Panthers' Caleb Wilkins and Mac Caldwell. Despite a valiant effort, the Sagehens team fell short, losing 5-8. In the second doubles match, the Sagehens' team of Ethan Lee and Matthew Feng faced off against the Panthers' Ben Jorgenson and Josh Blinder. The Sagehens were able to eke out a close win, winning 8-7 in a tiebreaker. In the third doubles match, the Sagehens' team of Luke Feng and Neil Chulani faced off against the Panthers' Jack Alexander and Kameron DeHart. Unfortunately for the Sagehens, they were not able to come out on top, losing 6-8.
Moving on to the singles matches, the Panthers took a win at #1 singles with Wilkins getting the win over Snyder 6-4, 6-1. The Sagehens got one back with Madabhushi earning a win at #2 singles, 6-2,6-0 and Lee winning at #3 6-1, 6-4. The Sagehens also won the only three-set match of the day as Morey secured a 2-6, 7-6, 5-0 win.
However, Chapman went on to earn wins at #4 singles and #6 singles with Matthew Feng falling 7-6, 7-5 and Krishnan losing his match 7-5, 7-6 to seal the upset over Pomona-Pitzer.
