
LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team defeated SCIAC opponent Occidental 6-3 on Friday afternoon.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 5-3 overall.
The Sagehens got out to a good start against the Tigers after they took two of the three doubles matches to begin the day with a 2-1 lead.
In the first doubles match, Matthew Feng and Eshaan Lumba defeated Matt OConnor and Seth Lipe with a score of 8-4. Kush Patel and Ethan Lee, on the other hand, lost to Ronald Chen and Ace Andres of Occidental with a score of 6-8 in the second doubles match. In the third doubles match, Luke Feng and Neil Chulani won against Isaac Herrenkohl and Brett Miller with a score of 8-5.
After taking two points into singles, the Sagehens needed just three matches to earn the win. However, Occidental started strong by winning the first singles match after Matt O'Connor of Occidental won against Kush Patel with a score of 7-5, 6-4. However, Pomona-Pitzer quickly bounced back and won the next three matches. Ethan Lee defeated Ronald Chen with a score of 6-4, 7-5, and Eshaan Lumba won against Sam Coan with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. Luke Feng went on to win against Ace Andres with a score of 6-3, 6-1.
Occidental managed to win the fifth singles match, with Michael Abagyan defeating Roshan Morey 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. However, Pomona-Pitzer won the final singles match with Neil Chulani defeating Brett Miller 6-2, 7-6, 6-2.
