Men's Tennis: Mandic And Bicks Lead Sagehens At Ojai With Semifinals Appearance

OJAI, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team sent a few individuals to the annual Ojai Tournament on April 27th- 30th at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club.

In the Men's West Doubles Tournament, the Sagehens' team of Avery Bicks and Marko Mandic made it all the way to the Semifinals before they were defeated in a hard-fought match to the team of Dull and Ly, 9-7.  

The Sagehens were led by sophomore Josh Gearou in singles who made it all the way into the Quarterfinals of the West Singles Tournament before he was defeated by Parker Wilson by the score of 6-3, 6-2.

Marko Mandic and Graham Maassen each won their first match in the Round of 32 but both Sagehens fell in the Round of 16 as Mandic  fell to Daniel Morkovine, 6-2, 6-1 and Maassen fell to Tom Suchodolski 7-6 (5), 7-5.

Gearou and Maassen also competed in the doubles tournament as they fell in the Round of 16 to the team of Hewlin and Jivkov, 8-4.

The Sagehens will next compete in the SCIAC Championships as they enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed on Friday, May 5th at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
