COMMERCE, CA. – After day 3 of the SCIAC Swim Championship, the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim & Dive Team remain in first place after several outstanding races. The Sagehens have accumulated 783.50 meet points, while the second place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps have 647.50 points.
Will Abele continued his string of strong performances, winning the 200 Freestyle at 1:39.18 and improving his NCAA B Cut time. Jack Swanson finished in fourth at 1:41.66 while freshman Paddy Baylis took sixth at 1:41.97. Zach Senator finished in eighth at 1:42.28.
Lukas Ming Menkhoff continued his dominance in the 100 Breaststroke, posting the second-best time in the nation at 54.13. Teddy Koerner took third at 56.18 and made the NCAA B Cut. Nick Lewis finished fifth at 56.82 and Nathan Hahn took ninth at 58.01.
Over in the 100 Backstroke, Nikhil Kundu won the event in 50.54 seconds while teammate Ryan Drover took third at 50.92. Drover later finished second in the 100 Butterfly at 49.01. Erik Garcia finished eighth in the 100 Back at 51.94.
Over in the 400 Medley Relay, the Sagehens A Team comprised of Kundu, Menkhoff, Drover, and Abele finished first at 3:20.56, making the NCAA B Cut. The Sagehens also won the B Final for the event as Garcia, Koerner, Greg Havton, and Lu combined for a time of 3:23.98.
Up Next: Action at the 2019 SCIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships will conclude tomorrow with the 1650-yard freestyle, the 200-yard backstroke, the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
