COMMERCE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim & Dive Team preserved their lead after the second day of the SCIAC Swim Championship at the Brenda Villa Aquatics Center, building up to 430.5 meet points after the second round of finals. The highlight of the evening came in the 500 Yard Freestyle as Will Abele and Paddy Baylis finished first and second, respectively. Abele timed at 4:27.60 while Baylis clocked in at 4:28.02, with both times making the NCAA B Cut.
Over in the 200 Individual Medley, freshman Jason Lu finished second in the A Final at 1:50.73, improving his B Cut time. His teammate Liam O'Shea tied for third with Aaron Lutzker of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 1:52.00. Teddy Koerner took first in the B Final at 1:53.26.
In the final event of the evening, the 200 Freestyle Relay, the Sagehens won the A Final as Menkhoff, Nick Borowsky, Lewis, and Ryan Drover combined for a time of 1:22.03. In the B Final, the Sagehens took first again as Nathan Hahn, Koerner, Lu, and Abele combined for a time of 1:24.30.
Up Next: The Sagehens will compete in the third day of the SCIAC Championship tomorrow with the preliminaries starting at 9:00 a.m. and the finals at 5:00 p.m.
