Men's Swim & Dive: Baylis Sets New 1650 Record At Lancer Invite

RIVERSIDE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim and Dive produced strong results at the final day of the Lancer Invitational despite bringing 10 swimmers to Cal Baptist on Saturday, scoring 261 meet points for a fourth-place finish.

Freshman Paddy Baylis continued his dominant run in the long distance, taking first place and setting a new program record in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 15:50.65, scoring 20 points for the Sagehens. Over in the 400 Individual Medley, Erik Garcia placed in fifth with a time of 4:12.91, scoring 14 points. He later took eighth in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:03.57.

Greg Havton had an impressive showing at the Invite, taking fifth in the 200 Butterfly at 1:52.49 with 14 points. Jack Montoro followed closely in eighth place at 1:56.67 while Ryan Drover took 13th at 2:05.46. Havton also swam in the 100 Butterfly and took sixth at 50.67 seconds. Montoro crossed in eighth at 52.04 seconds while Andrew Garcia was 10th at 52.28.

In the 100 Backstroke, Drover placed fourth at 53.37 while teammate Swanson finished 12th at 58.00. Swanson's best performance came in the 200 Freestyle when he finished sixth at 1:44.19. Nick Lewis and Jeffrey Tran competed in both the 100 IM and 200 Breaststroke. In the 100 IM, Lewis took 12th at 55.69 while Tran finished 21st at 59.50. Over at the 200 Breaststroke, Lewis performed better with seventh place at 2:14.78 while Tran finished right behind in eighth at 2:17.36.

Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again in the new year in a dual meet against Cal Lutheran University at home on January 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.
