WHITTIER, CA. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season got off to a great start for the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim & Dive team as the Sagehens won their tri-meet against Whittier College and Occidental College on Saturday morning. The Sagehens took first place in 14 events and outscored the Tigers 184-48 and the Poets 182-56.
Paddy Baylis continued his dominance in the long distance events, taking first place in the 100-yard Freestyle at 9:39.13. Freshman Jason Lu took first in the 200 Freestyle at 1:44.49 and later won again in the 500 Freestyle at 4:46.30. He also crossed in first in the 100 Freestyle at 47.85. Nikhil Kundu took the top spot in the 100 Backstroke at 54.21 and Will Abele won the 200 Butterfly at 1:56.15. Abele later won the 200 Individual Medley at 2:00.95.
Lukas Menkhoff remains dominant in the short distance events, winning the 50 Freestyle at 20.54 and the 100 Butterfly at 52.33. Liam O'Shea took second behind Baylis back in the 1000 Freestyle at 10:00.45 and still had energy to win the 200 Backstroke at 1:56.57. Nathan Hahn took the top spot in the 200 Breaststroke at 2:11.10.
Over at the boards, Jem Stern won the 3-Meter with a score of 298.95 and later took the 1-Meter at 268.70. Bilguun Altantulkhuur took second in both events with a score of 256.85 and 257.95, respectively.
Up Next: The Sagehens will return to Haldeman Pool on Saturday, November 17 to host University of Redlands in a dual meet at 10:30 a.m.
