Los Angeles, Calif. - Freshman forward Voja Maric scored the tying goal in the 78th minute and assisted on the game-winner from senior midfielder Harris Levin (pictured) three minutes later as the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team rallied late for a 2-1 win over Occidental on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Sagehens improve to 8-10-1 overall and an even 7-7-1 in the SCIAC. Occidental slips to 2-16 overall and 1-14 in league play.
Occidental struck for a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the second half, as Connor Freeman hit the crossbar and Marcus Brandford scored off the rebound to put the Tigers in front 53 seconds into the second stanza.
The lead held until there was 12:51 left in regulation, as Maric found the equalizer for his fifth goal of the season just minutes after Freeman hit the crossbar again for the second time in the contest.
Just 3:02 later, Maric assisted Levin on the game-winner with 9:49 to play, as Levin continued his personal dominance against the Tigers. Levin scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Occidental earlier this season, and also had the only goal in a 1-0 win over the Tigers last year.
The game wasn't over just yet, though, as junior Nigel Brady had to make two of his six saves in the closing minutes to help the Sagehens hold on. Tristan Cooper finished with nine saves for Occidental.
Pomona-Pitzer concludes its 2013 season at home on Saturday against Redlands at 11 a.m. Levin and the other Sagehen seniors will be recognized before the game for their Senior Day.
