Sagehens Take Third At The Whitney

WHITNEY, Tx. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Men's golf Team finished in third place at The Whitney on Sunday and Tuesday at the White Bluff Golf Course. 

Pomona-Pitzer finished with a third place score of 629 which was just seven strokes off of the second place finisher, Trinity and two strokes above fourth place East Texas Baptist.

The Sagehens were led by John Kim who ended his two rounds with a 150 in third place overall. Kim started out with a solid front nine in his opening round sitting at +1 at the turn. He ended the round with three total birdies for a 76(+4). Kim came back in round two and shaved two strokes off of his first-round total after two birdies and 12 pars put him at +2 for the day.

Yuki Bannai finished in a tie for 13th place with a 159.  Bannai started even through his six holes but ran into some trouble towards the end of his first round and finished with an 80 (+8). Bannai finished round two with birdies at 7 and 16 and had only two problems on the day with a double and a triple in back-to-back holes to take a 79 (+7) for day two.

Ryan Ruaysungnoen tied with Bannai at 13th with a 159.  Ruaysungnoen went opposite of 
Bannai with a 79 (+7) in round one and an 80 (+8) in round two.  He finished round one with back-to-back birdies at 11 and 12 and had a sole birdie at 8 on day two along with 11 pars to finish.

Tucker Lee ended his tournament with a 161 good for a tie for 16th place. Lee struggled out of the gate on his first two holes but bounced back with a birdie at 4 to finish with a +13 at 85. Lee came back strong in round two and sank three birdies on the back nine to finish with a 76 (+4) for the day.

Max Rockrohr finished up the tournament for the Sagehens after he didn't score in round one, came back in round two with a an 81 that landed him in 33rd overall. 

Up Next: The Sagehens will next compete in the Cal Lutheran Invitational on Monday, March 13th.
