Men's Golf: David Song Leads Sagehens With Win at Tukwet Preview

The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Golf Team began their spring season this past weekend in the Tukwet Preview hosted by Chapman University. The event was held at two courses: Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon and Tustin Ranch Golf Club. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, the second round of play in Tustin was ultimately cancelled.

Unlike past events, this was strictly an individual competition; team scores were not relevant as all SCIAC competitors used this tournament to prepare for eventual conference, team play. With that being said, the Sagehens were led by senior David Song who captured his first ever collegiate win in this 31-player field. Highlighted by 4 birdies and an eagle, Song fired an impressive 69 (-3) which was 5 strokes clear of the 2nd place finisher.

Right behind Song was fellow senior Sam Sawyers who is building off of his impressive fall season. He solidified yet another top-5 finish after recording a 75 (+3) which landed him in 4th place overall. Following Sawyers was senior Owen Rosebeck. Rosebeck continues to show his consistent play, securing a 10th place finish with a round of 79 (+7).

Senior Jack Carrigan and first-year Seth Pope each shot 82 (+10) to finish in 16th place. The Hens were rounded out by junior Alan Tom who fired a round of 85 (+13) which landed him in 21st overall.

Next Up: The Sagehens will be competing in SCIAC 1 at Morongo Golf Club at Tuwket Canyon February 29, 2020 – March 1, 2020
