Walla Walla, WA. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Golf Team concluded their busy fall season this past weekend in Walla Walla, WA at the Whitman Confluence Classic. The event was held at two golf courses (Veterans Golf Course for round 1 and Wine Valley Golf Club for round 2). Despite tough playing conditions, The Sagehens battled hard through the severe wind and rain to secure their best finish of the Fall. They ended the tournament in 2nd place (team total of 596), 21 shots clear of 3rd and just 7 shots behind Whitworth who were the eventual winners. The Hens were led by Senior David Song who has had an impressive start to his Senior year. Song improved each day, firing solid rounds of 75,73 (+4) to secure a career best 4th place finish.
This fall Season, Song did not shoot a single round in the 80s and looks to carry this momentum into the spring. Following Song was fellow senior Sam Sawyers. Sawyers concluded his fall season with rounds of 77, 73 (+6) to finish in 8th on the individual board. Right behind Sawyers was Owen Rosebeck who continues to show his steady play with rounds of 73, 78 (+7), good enough for yet another top-10 (solo 9th). Seth Pope bounced back from his first round performance with a 71 (-1) to finish with a two round total of +11, securing 17th place. Rounding out the Sagehens was Senior Jack Carrigan who finished right behind Pope, firing rounds of 76, 81 (+13) to land him 18th place in the 35-player field.
Next Up: The Sagehens will take some time off and gear up for their primary Spring Season of play.
