Knox Finishes 14th At West Cup

Tukwet Valley, Calif. - Junior Kevin Knox gave a solid three-round performance to come in 14th place overall out of 78 competitors at The West Cup on Monday and Tuesday at Tukwet Valley Country Club. 

Knox finished with a 226 with a consistent effort of 75-75-76 over the three rounds. Bobby Holden of Redlands and Alec Spencer of La Verne tied for the individual title with a 214 over the three rounds, while Knox was only two shots out of placing in the top 10. 

Freshman Spencer Katchman shot a 77 in his first round on Tuesday (second round of the tournament) and was the second-highest Sagehen with a 245.

Knox continued his recent strong play after also shooting a 77 at the Oak Valley Challenge on Saturday, hosted by Occidental, which tied for third (one shot off the lead). Junior Mitchell Weeks shot an 81 in that event to place second on the team.   

The Sagehens will be back in action on April 11-12 when they host the second SCIAC regular season tournament at Los Serranos.
