Sagehens' Comeback Falls Short In 6-5 Loss To Webster

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball fell to non-conference opponent Webster 6-5 on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 8-10 on the year.

The Sagehens were led by Jimmy Legg who went 3-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Legg was the only Sagehen with multiple hits but JC Ng, Nate Jakobs, Isaac Kim, Caleb Millikan, Jack Colton, and William Kinney all had one.

Jake Albro got the start in the non-conference midweek game and went four innings with nine hits, four runs, and one strikeout. Ethan Collins, Landon Carter, and Eddie Rosemont came in for relief roles as well.

Webster got the lead with their first batter off of a solo shot to center field and then the Gorloks added one run in each of their first four innings to take a quick 4-0 lead over the Sagehens. Another one-run inning for the Gorloks in the top of the 8th after their third solo home run of the day extended the lead to 5-0

It took the Sagehens eight inning to chase the starter for Webster out of the game, but it left them with bases loaded and two outs in the eighth. The Sagehens got to the bullpen and got the offense going. Ng singled home two with the bases loaded and Jakobs followed with an RBI double to cut the lead down to 5-3 heading into the ninth.

The Gorloks helped their cause in the ninth with their fourth home run of the game to push the lead to 6-3.

Facing a three-run deficit, the Sagehens didn't go quietly after a two-out two-run double by Jimmy Legg in the ninth put the tying run on second. The Gorloks bullpen was able to get them out of a jam as the Sagehens suffered their third-straight loss of the season.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next have a three-game series with Tufts starting on Saturday, March 18th at 1:00 p.m.
