Sagehens Fall To Endicott, 7-2

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team started their string of spring break baseball with a 7-2 loss against non-conference opponent Endicott on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.  

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to  8-8 on the season. 

The Sagehens were led by Donovan Cook who had the only two-hit afternoon with a 2-5 performance. Isaac Kim, Caleb Millikan, Jackson Fleming, David Bedrosian, and Ben Morgan all had hits while Morgan tallied two RBI's for the Sagehens in the loss.

Jake Hilton got the ball for the Sagehens on the mound, went six innings, gave up three runs, and tallied six strikeouts. Eamonn Woods came in relief and provided two innings of scoreless baseball but was tagged for four runs in the ninth. 

Pomona-Pitzer fell behind early after a two-run homer by the Gulls in the first got Endicott out to a 2-0 lead. The Gulls added their second home run in as many innings with a solo shot in the third to put the Sagehens down 3-0. 

Pomona-Pitzer got the offense going in the bottom of the second with an RBI single by Ben Morgan to bring the first runner of the day home for the Sagehens to make it 3-1. 

The Sagehens returned with another run in the bottom of the fourth as Morgan again brought home a runner by way of a ground out to get Pomona-Pitzer within one at 3-2. 

The bullpens did well for both teams with neither team adding runs in the next four innings until the Gulls added some insurance with a two-RBI single to right to extend the lead to 5-2. Endicott added two more in the inning with an RBI single and a ground out to put the Sagehens down 7-2 heading into their final at-bats. 

Pomona-Pitzer got a runner on in the ninth but couldn't start a rally as they fell to Endicott at home.
