TUCSON, AZ. – Following a hot 13-4 start to this season, the Pomona-Pitzer Baseball program was recognized by BaseballNews.com in the Collegiate Baseball Division III Poll on March 13th. The Sagehens have had several notable wins this season, having won two out of three games in a SCIAC series against Chapman University, sweeping Whittier College in three games, and riding a six-game winning streaking.
The baseball program has yet lost a series this season thanks to some strong pitching performances by Jeremy Jess and Nicholas Radich, as well as some emerging bats in the lineup. Brian Knapp has broken out this season, leading the team with five home runs and 19 RBIs. Jeremiah Quezada has also been providing some power in the lineup as the sophomore is hitting .378 with three home runs and 15 RBIs. Jack Hanley turned into a pleasant surprise as the catcher proved to be an excellent two-way player, throwing out four base runners and batting .488 with a .580 on-base percentage.
The Sagehens are ranked 14th in homeruns in the nation with 12 total and 23rd in runs with 130 in 19 games.
