Baseball: Sagehens Drop Road Game To Redlands, 7-3

REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell to Southern California intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Redlands 7-3 on Friday afternoon at The Yard.

Season impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 18-19 overall and 10-12 in the SCIAC this season.

The Sagehens were led by senior Kevin Jordan who went 3-5 with two RBI in the loss.

The Bulldogs were led by Rainier Aguilar who went 2-3 with three runs scored and one RBI.

Redlands jumped out to a 2-0 lead as they jumped on the score board in the bottom of the third after a runner scored on a passed ball and a RBI single gave the Bulldogs an early lead.

The Sagehens responded in their next at-bats as junior Matt Omori doubled home freshman Brian Knapp and Jordan drove in Omori on a RBI single up the middle to even the score at 2-2 after the third.

The Bulldogs got their two-run lead right back as they scored two unearned runs in the fourth off of an error and a sacrifice fly to take a 4-2 lead over the Sagehens.

Pomona-Pitzer cut the lead down to just one run after Jordan hit his second RBI single of the game in the top of the sixth but Redlands responded with a solo shot by Aguilar to keep the deficit at two runs at 5-3.

The Bulldogs added two more runs to their total in the bottom of the eighth and was able to hold off the Sagehens late in the game to take game one of the three-game series.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host Redlands for their final regular season games of the year with a double header on Saturday, April 29th beginning at 11:00 a.m.
