Women's Cross Country: Hamilton and Guo Earn All-Region, Embark on National Championship

NEW ORLEANS, LOUIS. – The United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association recognized Lauren Hamilton and Helen Guo on the All-Region Honors on Monday. The top-35 runners at each Regional Championship were selected to receive this award. A total of 280 women from 239 programs were given this distinction.

Hamilton finished second overall at the West Regional, clocking in at 21:28.09. She also took second at the SCIAC Championship earlier this season.

Guo crossed in 10th at the West Regional, recording at 22:09.42. She finished in fifth at the SCIAC Championship.

The two ladies will be competing individually at the NCAA National Championship this Saturday, November 18 in Elsah, Illinois at Principia College.

Neither runners have competed at this course in their careers. Hamilton does have a National Championship appearance on her resume, having raced last year and finishing 169th with a time of 22:23.4. Both runners will look to conquer the prairie and open fields of the Principia Course.

The women's race will begin at 12:15 p.m. CST.
