Allegheny Stays Unbeaten, Defeats Sagehens 13-10

Claremont, Calif. - Kelsey Rodgers had six goals and two assists to lead the Allegheny Women's Lacrosse team to a 13-10 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Friday morning.

With the win, Allegheny remains undefeated on the season at 7-0, sweeping Chapman 13-12 and Pomona-Pitzer 13-10 on their West Coast Trip. The Sagehens see their four-game winning streak snapped as they fall to 7-3 on the year.

Sophomores Aubrey Douglass (pictured) and Sarah Markowitz and senior Jana London each had two goals for the Sagehens, while four other players had one.

Rodgers had five of her goals in the first half to help stake the Gators to a 9-5 lead at the break, after Kelly Dickson scored with three seconds left on the clock. Kaitlin Jones had the first goal of the second half for Pomona-Pitzer and Emlyn Foxen trimmed the Allegheny lead to 10-7 with just over 20 minutes remaining on a free position shot.

The Gators, though, scored the next three goals in a row to take a commanding 13-7 lead with 14:28 to play on a Dickson goa. The Sagehens crept back within 13-10 with 3:16 left after London, freshman Rebecca Long and sophomore Ally McLaughlin scored, and then had a shot rattle off the post a minute later that would have cut it to 13-11. Allegheny was then able to kill off the last couple minutes, with Kaelin Clogan only being called into action in the final few seconds, when she made her 14th save.

Dickson had four goals and one assist as Rodgers and Dickson accounted for 10 of the Allegheny 13 goals on the day.

Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Monday for a 7 p.m. game against DePauw.
