Tacoma, Wash. - Senior attacker Jana London (pictured) had a career-high 10 goals to lead the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team to an 18-8 road win over Puget Sound on Sunday morning, while the Sagehens added a 17-0 win over Linfield in a neutral site game at Puget Sound in the afternoon for two wins in one day.
With the wins, Pomona-Pitzer improves to 6-2 on the season, while Puget Sound suffers its first loss and falls to 3-1 and Linfield drops to 0-3.
Puget Sound was within 10-6 late in the first half, but the Sagehens scored seven straight goals spanning both halves to put the game away. London and Sarah Markowitz closed out the first stanza with goals (giving London seven in the first half alone) to make the score 12-6 at the break.
Douglass finished the game with three goals, while Markowitz and Rebecca Long each added two. Gaby Fukumura had 10 saves to get the win in goal for the Sagehens, who had a 41-20 edge in shots for the game.
Fukumura earned a shutout in goal against Linfield, while sophomore Grace Geller led the way with four goals. Defenders Rachel Kessler and Zoe Brown added goals, along with sophomore midfielder Ying Fry, who scored her first.
Pomona-Pitzer will now have 17 days off before facing Sewanee at home on March 19.
