Gig Harbor, Wash. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team went on an 8-0 run after Pacific scored the game's first goal and coasted to a 16-3 win on Saturday in a neutral site game played at Peninsula High School.
With the win, the Sagehens improve to 4-2 on the year, while Pacific sees its record to slip to 1-2 with the loss.
Sophomore midfielder Ally McLaughlin (pictured) led the Pomona-Pitzer offense with four goals and two assists, while sophomore attacker Aubrey Douglass had three goals and one assist. Senior attacker Jana London and sophomore attacker Sarah Markowitz each had three goals, while freshman attacker Rebecca Long had two. Gaby Fukumura had 10 saves in goal for the Sagehens, which had a 29-14 edge in shots.
After April Lanz scored the game's first goal for Pacific, Douglass answered 1:40 later to start an 8-0 run. Long, Markowitz and McLaughlin followed with the next three goals and Long scored her second at the 18:47 mark of the first alf to make the score 5-1. Douglass, London and McLaughlin capped off the run with three more goals, before Pacific's Amy McHugh ended the run with 10:28 left in the half.
Pomona-Pitzer is back in action tomorrow with a pair of games at Puget Sound, including an afternoon neutral site game against Linfield.
