Sagehens Forge Ahead Early, Capture 20-14 Win Over Puget Sound.

Claremont, Calif. - Junior attacker Jana London (Chevy Chase, Md. - pictured) had seven goals and junior midfielder Logan Galansky (Denver, Colo.) added three goals and four assists as the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team defeated Puget Sound on Tuesday afternoon at the South Athletic Complex.

The win improves Pomona-Pitzer to 6-3 on the year, while Puget Sound sees its record slip to 2-4 with the loss.

The Loggers started quickly with two goals in the first minute of the game, but Pomona-Pitzer responded with a 7-0 run to take control of the game for good. Galansky and London each had two goals during the spurt.

The teams essentially traded goals the rest of the way, as the Loggers never got closer than four goals. The Sagehens took a 10-5 lead into halftime, moved out to its largest lead at 17-10 midway through the second half, and Puget Sound got to within 18-14 late before the Sagehens scored the final two goals to put it away.

Senior attacker Emma Molloy (Basking Ridge, N.J.) added three goals and two assists to the Sagehen total, while junior midfielder Kaitlin Jones (Minneapolis, Minn.) and freshman attacker Sarah Markowitz (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) each added two goals and sophomore attacker Alexa Sarussi (Scottsdale, Ariz.) had a goal and three assists. Julia Schulman had five goals to become Puget Sound's all-time leading scorer in a losing cause, while Galansky led all players with 10 draw controls.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Tennessee for a road game with Sewanee on Friday and a neutral game with Oglethorpe on Saturday,
